Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book hire?

Hire booking is booked via the website with bookings only possible till 12 noon on peak days for kayak and stand up paddle boarding.
After 12 noon, it’s first come first served, meaning just turn up, and we will get you on the water as soon as kit is available (often straight away).

How do I book Lessons?

There are some lessons also bookable online, otherwise more can be made available by email.

How do I pay?

At the trailer, we can only take card payments. Via our online booking system or through email communication we can take payment by bank transfer.

What’s Included?

At ShoreSports we don’t charge extra for things you need for each booking. So wetsuits are available to all who want to use them. Buoyancy aids are compulsory so of course you get one of those. All our kayaks come with back supports. We have a small selection of wetsuit shoes for those who forget, but as this is a more personal thing we suggest you bring your own enclosed toe type of shoe that can get wet.

The use of all kit is included with each lesson.

What age can use ShoreSports?

Hire is open to all ages if accompanied by a responsible adult. It is permitted to hire one SUP board between two (as in share) price is per item of equipment for hire.

Group lessons are for age 8 and up. Children do not need adult supervision for lessons as we hold an AALA licence

Can I bring my dog?

We are happy for well behaved dogs to accompany you as long as the equipment comes back
in the same condition. It is not possible to bring dogs on lessons or tours.

Do I need to complete a waiver each time I come?

Waivers are valid for one year, so once completed repeat customers do not need to complete another form.

Do you have parking reserved for customers?

Unfortunately we don’t.  There is a large council owned car park in Mudeford Quay which is payable by the hour. Please note that during peak season and at the weekends the carpark can be very busy so please allow plenty of time before your lesson.

What do we need to do before going on the water?

All users must read, understand and sign a waiver form prior to use. This will be found on your booking email. And as per your agreement you must follow instructions given by the team. If in doubt ask.

Will I get wet?

Kayaking: Unlikely if using our kayaks and remain seated centrally while paddling. Our Feel free kayaks have been selected based on their easy to use and stable design.

SUP/Paddleboarding: It is recommended to stand or kneel centrally with a wide base on your paddle board, this will reduce the risk of falling in. However, balance is a skill that varies from person to person so it is likely for some that you will get wet. So if in doubt do use our wetsuits or bring spare clothes.

Windsurfing: if you don’t get wet, you’re not trying hard enough!!!

Kids club: Definitely! It’s part of the fun!

Sailing: That’s a personal choice, on most our lessons we generally stay in the boat (although you do need to walk out in knee depth to get in. But at some point capsizing is part of the learning!

What are your height and weight limits for Hire?

There is no height limit.

Our single sit-on kayaks have a 150kg recommended capacity.

Our double sit-on kayaks have a 250kg recommended total capacity.

Our Red Paddle Co Paddle Board’s have a 110kg recommended weight limit.

We have a selection of buoyancy aids and wetsuits (male and female) from age 3/4 – XXXL and everything in between.
