Hire booking is booked via the website with bookings online now possible all day.
We have lots of kit so if you just want to turn up itâs first come first served, meaning just come let us know what you want, pay by card and we will get you on the water as soon as kit is available (often straight away). -
There are some lessons are bookable online (green squares), otherwise more can be made available by emailing nick@shoresports.co.uk. We are keen to teach as many people as possible watersports so more can enjoy their time on the water, so we try as hard as we can to make lessons when you want them. Just ask. We can take payment via bank transfer or if you book on the day we prefer card payments if at the trailer.

At ShoreSports we donât charge extra for things you need for each booking. So wetsuits are available to all who want to use them. Buoyancy aids are compulsory so of course you get one of those. All our kayaks come with back supports. We have a small selection of wetsuit shoes for those who forget, but as this is a more personal thing we suggest you bring your own enclosed toe type of shoe that can get wet.
The use of all kit is included with each lesson.

Kayaking: Unlikely to get very wet if using our kayaks and remain seated centrally while paddling. Our Feel free kayaks have been selected based on their easy to use and stable design. You will however get a damp bottom.
SUP/Paddleboarding: It is recommended to stand or kneel centrally with a wide base on your paddle board, this will reduce the risk of falling in. However, balance is a skill that varies from person to person so it is likely for some that you will get wet. So if in doubt do use our wetsuits or bring spare clothes.
Windsurfing: if you donât get wet, youâre not trying hard enough!!!
Kids club: Definitely! Itâs part of the fun!
Sailing: Thatâs a personal choice, on most our lessons we generally stay in the boat (although you do need to walk out in knee depth to get in. But at some point capsizing is part of the learning!

There is no height limit.
Our single sit-on kayaks have a 150kg recommended capacity.
Our double sit-on kayaks have a 250kg recommended total capacity.

We have a selection of buoyancy aids and wetsuits (male and female) from age 3/4 â XXXL and everything in between.

Christchurch harbour is tidal. At low tide the water depth reduces and the area available to paddle in is reduced. It is still possible to go out, but you need to stick to the channels and walk out over the sandy mud to the water. Our staff can direct you and help you take kit out. On the hire booking slots we have marked out when this is. If it says ‘low tide, restricted area’ on a time slot it means for part of that hour there is a significant restriction. So if booking two hours do look ahead at the following hour.
